Rotary Dryer

Rotary Dryers / Coolers are widely used in the Industry for drying / cooling of reasonably free flowing materials.

The rotary dryers comprise of a rotating shell which is supported on tyres or rollers. Suitable drive management is made to rotate the dryers. There are two stationary hood at both the ends, one for letting the air or gas and the other to collect the cooling media. Suitable feeding mechanism is used to admit the feed. The feeding mechanism is governed by screw feeder or chute. The rotating shell in these rotary drying systems is provided with specially designed material showering mechanism like Lifters / Garland Chains etc. The forward movement of the material towards discharge end is provided by the shell inclination & rotating speed. The heat transfer within the shell is responsible for drying of the showering material.Product is discharged from the stationary hood through suitable equipment like Flap Valve / Rotary Valve / Screw Conveyor / Chute.

In-Direct Rotary Dryers:
Direct contact is avoided for the material to be dried in the drying media. Two concentric rotating shells are used to comprise the rotary dryers. The rollers or tyres on which the shells rest are driven by suitable drive management. Suitable feeding mechanism is resorted to let the feed admitted. The feeding mechanism is governed by screw feeder or flap valve. The inner shell lets the drying media to enter and travel toward the discharge end and again it move back to the point of origin. Suitable radial lifters are provided to the inner shell. This special construct is used to shower the feed material. Shell inclination & rotating speed facilitate forward movement of the material towards discharge end providing required residence time. Heat transfer makes the feed material to dry owing to the special construct of the passage. The stationary hood is used to discharge the product through suitable equipment.

Rotary Calciners

Rotary Calciners are used to calcine materials at high temperature. The rotary calciner comprises of rotating shell, rollers or tyres, combustion chamber, stationary hood, screw conveyor and many more tools. The rotating shell is supported on rollers and a suitable drive arrangement is provided. The internals are suitably refractory lined to minimize the heat losses. The combustion chamber produces hot gases which are required for calcination. This combustion chamber is connected to stationary hood and the feed material is fed at the controlled rate. The calcined material flow in counter current fashion within the calciner and gets discharged through discharge hood.

Conduction Dryers

A variety of machines(industrial conduction dryers) like tube bundle dryers, rotatory speed dryers, rotor type dryers are used in diverse industries and can be tailored to meet the client's requirement.

Tube Bundle Dryers:

In this dryer, tube bundle is rotating inside stationary housing.

In tube bundle dryers, the tube bundle rotates inside stationary housing. The material to be heated is passed through the tubes of tube bundle. The heated material is then fed into the stationary dryer housing at suitable location at one end. Conduction as a means of heat transfer takes place when the material is lifted up by the lifters. The lifters are provided on the periphery of the tube bundle.

Rotary Steam Tube Dryers:

Rotary Steam Tube Dryers

In this dryer, the outer shell housing is the fixing point of the tubes and is rotated along with the shell. The circumference of the internal periphery of rotary shell contains the single/multiple rows. Tyres or rollers support the rotary shell and a suitable drive arrangement unit is provided. The feed screw feeds the feed material through the center of one end of the dryer. The circumferential tubes accumulate the steam from a rotating manifold installed towards material discharge end of the shell through Rotary Joint. Condensate is also collected through the same Rotary Joint. The accumulated material gets dried up and is discharged through the other end. The openings serve the dual purpose. It lets fresh air to get into. The vapors are disposed from the feed end. Spiral flight lifters showered the feed material on tubes.

Agitated Rotor Type Dryer / Heater / Cooler

AVM offers custom tailored Agitated rotor dryers. Heat is supplied to jacket of stationary cylindrical housing when used as dryer/ heater. Specially designed rotor is used to put the material to be dried in agitation. Rotor is specifically configured depending on material characteristics and can be Screw / Ribbon / Paddle / Plough / Anchor / Special Type etc. The heating media can be steam, hot oil, hot water or thermic fluid. Provision for solvent recovery option is also provided. Suitable cooling media can be circulated in the jacket when used as a cooler.


Vacuum Dryers


Vacuum dryers find extensive usage in the industry for drying a variety of products. These vacuum dryers are perfect to dry heat sensitive products, drying of products in solvents, drying requirements necessitating achievement of very low moisture or low oxygen drying environment in order to optimize oxidation or for explosion prone products. Agitated Cylindrical Vacuum Dryer

In order to dry the material, the material is kept in agitation by means of specially designed rotor. Then the heat is supplied to jacket of stationary cylindrical housing.

Double Cone Vacuum Dryer:

In these dryers, the rotating jacket has double conical shape where the heat is supplied. Continuous tumbling within the rotating house is used to keep the material dried. The special conical shape drains out the material at the end of the batch.

Rotary Atomizers

Rotary atomizers are used in spray drying to atomize the feed into fine droplets. Kinetic energy is imparted to the rotary atomizers for atomization of the liquid. The kinetic energy is harnessed from the rotating wheel. The pattern of the droplets of atomized liquid depends upon several factors like liquid properties, disc speed, disc configuration etc. Bulk density of the liquid is also one of the factors for spray dried products. Different atomizer wheel configurations, optimum atomizer speed and optimum relevant feed properties yield desired results.
